My Salinger Year trailer: Margaret Qualley leads Joanna Rakoff memoir
Following its debut at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, IFC Films and Mongrel Media have debuted the first trailer for the film adaptation of My Salinger Year starring Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) in the lead role. The trailer can be viewed in the player below!
Based on Joanna Rakoff’s memoir of the same name, the story centers on Joanna (Qualley), who dreams of being an author but finds it to be a difficult path in 1990s New York. Joanna takes a job as an assistant to literary agent Margaret (Sigourney Weaver, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Avatar), knowing it to be a big opportunity and working hard as she deals with her old-fashioned and stubborn boss and answers the fan mail of the agency’s seemingly sole source of importance, cult favorite author J.D. Salinger. Though her private life sees her distancing herself from her socialist boyfriend, her work sees her progress towards her dream job through Salinger.
Alongside Qualley and Weaver, the cast for the film includes Douglas Booth (Mary Shelley, The Dirt), Brian F. O’Byrne (Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector), Colm Feore (The Umbrella Academy, For All Mankind) and Yanic Truesdale (Gilmore Girls).
My Salinger Year is written and directed by Phillippe Falardeau, best-known for previously helming the Oscar-nominated drama Monsieur Lazhar, the Reese Witherspoon-starring drama The Good Lie and the eponymous Chuck Wepner biopic starring Liev Schreiber in the titular role.
The film is currently slated for a theatrical release on Friday, November 13.
